Medicus Review - Is This Contraption A Scam?

Turn on the Golf Channel and your bound to see a Medicus Golf info-commercial. Mark O’Meara and Camilo Villegas both seem to be sporting major woodies as they preach about this floppy hunk of steel...

So are these 2 dudes legit or just collecting a paycheck from Medicus Golf?

When I went to my local pro shop I was a little put off by the price, $159.95
(especially when I could try it risk free online for $39.95 and free shipping)

So I asked the club pro if I could test the medicus driver out risk free...

He said sure, but if you break it you own it!
("I said to myself, "doesn't sound very risk free if you ask me")

But I digress...

At first I thought this thing would break in two...

So I gingerly began to swing this medicus "hittable" driver trying desparately not to break it(especially after the guy behind the counter snarled at me).

It took me a few minutes of swinging the Medicus before I was confident this thing wasn't gonna break, it's actually a pretty sturdy piece of equipment. After about 15 minutes, I learned how to swing the Medicus without breaking down any of the dual hinges (I guess I had some flaws in my swing) :)

After I felt confident I could swing the Medicus Driver without the hinges breaking down and developed a nice rhythm with it - I began to whack some balls with it...

This swing aid then began to feel like it was swinging itself - I kid you not!

Each shot was actually coming right off the screws, shot after shot.

It's true the Medicus Driver can be a bit spendy, I was put off by the cost as well...

Then I began to think - lessons from that loud mouth down the road costs my humble golfing community $200 for 5 sessions... with a 2 week waiting list - not the kind of instant feed back I was looking for...

Biomechanics Of Golf

Can the bio mechanics of golf teach you how to build a fundamentally sound golf swing?

An important physical principal in golf bio mechanics is the conservation of angular momentum...the scientific principal that states the angular momentum of an object remains constant as long as no external force or moment acts on that object.

Simply stated - if the object (club head) moves closer to the axis (formed by the golfer's stationary spine), it's velocity increases. If the object is moved farther out from the axis, it's velocity decreases.

Conservation of angular momentum can be clearly seen in the figure skater who performs a stationary spin on ice. As she brings her arms closer to her body, she spins faster - moving her arms away from her body causes her to slow down.

To take full advantage of the bio mechanics of golf you must give angular momentum time to build up during the downswing or you are fighting the laws of physics - do not rush the downswing!

By allowing angular momentum to gradually build during the downswing will create an incredible amount of club head speed to be delivered to the ball at impact - this is why the pros look so effortless when they swing - they are taking full advantage of golf bio mechanics and the conservation of angular momentum.
